I am an involved parent who is planning to send my now 5th grader from Chabot to CMS next year. I have personally already been involved in working on the recent CMS auction which was a fantastic experience. There are many dedicated parents at the school who are committed just as much as the new principal and teachers. The discipline has been very seriously considered and the whole atmosphere there has already changed for the better. The new vice principle is a force in communicating with the parents and supporting the principle herself and I understand he comes to CMS from a very well established charter school community. In addition the school has already jumped 91 API points in their overall API score , it can only get better. I am excited about all the changes happening at CMS and the movement to make it a school of choice in Rockridge.

I am the parent of a sixth grader at Claremont. My son, who went to Chabot, is very happy, is learning a lot, and has quite a few friends. Overall, I am very pleased with the school. The new principal and vice principal are very good: they have focused on discipline issues -- probably the biggest concern from prior years -- and the school environment appears to have made big strides in that regard. There is still work to be done, which is not unexcpected for an Oakland public school, Overall, I am very glad that our family decided to send our son here and we definitely plan to send our other child to Claremont in the next couple of years.
Our son, who is a 6th grader at Claremont Middle School, is enjoying and learning at Claremont. He likes his teachers, says that the atmosphere for learning is safe, and that he has made a lot of new friends. We as parents appreciate the hard work of the new principal and assistant principal and believe that they are leading the school in the right direction. Overall, we are very clear that we made the right decision to send our son to Claremont.

I am an active parent at Claremont Middle school. I am proud to say that many positive things are happening campus wide. The buildings and grounds are clean and I give highest praise to our fabulous custodian Mr. Sam Taylor. The current administration has been very effective in maintaining a positive school climate. Our new principal (Ms. Kenya Crockett) and our new vice principal (Mr. Kevin Taylor) are doing all the right things to create a positive learning environment. Teachers feel supported and the end result is students are engaged and succeeding. My child is happy at the school and I am happy to be a part of this middle school community. Sincerely, Julie Parker PTA Secretary and mother of a 7th grader
