Beckford Avenue Elementary School

i am a parent of a kinder student that just started and i think they are doing a fine job with him at beckford! the cirriculum is a bit 'easy' for my son but i am glad for the work not to be too hard during this time of getting used to a new school. i am impressed that it is this good because all i have heard from others about lausd. i wanted to go private but times are tough and we needed an alternative. beckford fills the bill! thanks to all there who may at times seem a bit strict. i know it is with the kids welfare at heart. it does seem that some parents 'flock' together and dont seem to notice others, but i dont think it is because they are being rude...they just dont know you or me! introduce yourself!

Beckford has a small, homey feel. There is alot of parent involvement and great friendships are made over the years. Every teacher my kids have had have been wonderful and they have loved them. I will be sorry when I no longer have a reason to be there!

I wholeheartedly agree with the last statement. I've been part of this school for 5 years - 2 kids. The principal always has an open door and always puts the interest of the kids first. From the leadership to the teachers to the parent involvment to the real sense of 'community' my kids feel, this school is great!!!

I am so surprised by the parent who is unhappy with Beckford. It is a wonderful school with fantastic teachers and a warm and welcoming principal. Ther is no better school in all of LAUSD.
