I've long since graduated from this elementary school, but now that my children are there, I can see that the quality of the teaching staff, volunteer system, and kids education are still top notch. This school provides an exemplary basis of knowledge for young ones future.
My son is a first grade at this school and has been since he was in preschool. (PreK and K is now being offered at Wilson School). I'm very happy with the quality of education he received there. Class instructions include Art in Class, Music, Spanish, Computer, in addition to Math, Reading, and Writing. Reading has also been a focus of the district for the past 2 years, and I'm pround to say my son is very comfortable reading chapter books (magic tree house series) by Christmas time. Parent involvment is also extremely high, and my son has made a lot of friends in class and on the playground. I would recommend this school to anyone who is considering Summit.

This school will no longer offer any language courses K-3rd grade. There will no longer by music offered to the kindergarten. Other programs are also being cut. There has been erosion of programs at this school for the last few years - ironic, since there has been tremendous influx of tax dollars during the same time. The level of parent involvement is very high and my daughter enjoys school at WAS.

My daughter has been in Washington School from K through the 1st grade. She loves teachers, she loves everyday activities, because of the warm and friendly atmosphere in class. From my side I want to note that there is special attention to each student, though there is no program for advanced children. The first grade includes Spanish, Art and Music classes. This school does not offer an afterschool program. I would recommend it to anybody who moves in the area. Your kids will gain all necessary skills for their age.
