My child transferred to Ada High School her senior year. Her previous school was rated high academically and she was a B student. At AHS she had to take AP classes to get challenged. At least they had AP courses available. I had been told that Ada School System had poor academics and that turned out to be true. I was grateful my child had to only be there one year.

This is the most academically focused school in the area. I graduated from Ada and had a great experience. If you work hard and accept the discipline you can really get a lot out of it. I graduated fully confident that I would do well in higher level education, and I did. I went to two prestigious Oklahoma colleges and was more advanced than my fellow students because of my Ada High education. Extra curricular activities are great if you involve yourself. In any school, you will get out what you put in.

The Ada public schools are typical of small to medium sized rural schools. What it lacks in academic rigor, it makes up in community involvement, extracurricular activities and learning environment. It s proximity to East Central University and that university s strong teacher education programs means that the Ada school system gets more than a typical share of quality teachers. Yet the schools remains small enough and student friendly enough, that individuals are unlikely to get overlooked or lost in the system. . If students are pushed to take the more advanced courses, which are available as options, they will be sufficiently prepared for university academics. Personally I consider the good and safe school environment to be equally important.
