Anacoco Elementary is where my precious grandson goes to school. The teachers are very great and they are helping the children to become achievers in life. Wishing the Best for all. My thanks to Anacoco elementary school

I have a daughter who attended this school for 4th and 5th grade. We were a military family living on Ft. Polk, but I thought the commute was worth it. The education is the best you'll find in the area although I realize in terms of national standings, Louisiana is not high on the list. The school is friendly, appreciates parent volunteers (although I have yet to hear about a PTA of any sort), the teachers are very organized and expect a lot from their students. The classrooms, however are old, dark, cheerless and very cramped. The bathrooms and water fountains are beyond repair, they simply need to be torn down and replaced. Fortunately, last spring the residents voted a tax increase to support the renovation of this school which is long overdue. Unfortunately, making it all happen is very slow. Nonetheless, the school's education is better than the alternatives.

I have a child that has attended AES since Kindergarten. She has received an outstanding education and has excelled far above my expectations. Every teacher that my child has had, with the exception of her K teacher, has been kind, considerate and helpful. Education is emphasized very much and I like that. I agree that the facilities need an over-haul and hopefully with the new tax just passed emphasis will be placed on that immediately. Our children deserve a better facility.

I feel like the amount of homework is a little over the top. I have a fourth grader that spends hours each night trying to keep up with the five or six subjects a night that he is expected to 'study'. I also have a sixth grader that needs a little more one-on-one to keep his focus, but he doesn't seem to be getting that. I understand that one teacher has many students, but each student deserves a chance to excell, not just the ones that already have it mastered! I am a working mom with four kids, I expect the teachers to do most of the teaching. It seems more like the parents responsibility these days.
