I don't like the freshman being separated form the high school. The freshman academy is supposed to help us get used to high school. I still felt like I was in middle school and we were still treated like we were in middle school. It's a big wake-up call when I moved to big Byrnes. I am actually treated as a high schooler now, but it was a big suprise coming from still being treated like a middle schooler.

I attended this school for the 06-07 school year. The school focuses a great amount on teaching the curriculum but doesn't get involve with any of the schoolwide events(like pep rallies and fund raisers). During the time that I attended BFA they had only 3 pep rallies. The academy was supposed to decrease the amount of students that fail the 9th grade by keeping them away from the influence of higher grade students. I don't think that would make much of a difference because now I am a sophmore at BHS and Its just like being a freshman again. By moving the 9th graders to a seperate school they're not decreasing the amount of high school drop outs, they're just delaying it until their sophmore year. other than that i love BFA almost as much as I love BHS!!! This is a great school that gives you many choices and great opportunities.
