I find this school avoids the difficult task of testing for exceptional students and tries to pass off their responsibility

This is a good school with awesome teachers. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because the parent involvement stinks. There are a very few who do everything, and then the parents who do nothing have the nerve to complain.

I have two children at OCE and the help that parents are allowed to do is very limited. The PTO is not organized at all, the parents don't know when the meetings are because there is no info sent home with the students, the only way to know when the meetings are is if your children are car riders. Approved volunteers are NEVER contacted. This is a real concern for parents that want to be involved in their children's school. The teachers are excellent, but they do need more help in the classroom. With the budget cuts and people getting laid off, I wonder how much of an impact it will be on our teachers and if the principal will actually let more parents volunteer in the classroom to relieve some stress from the teachers.

Ever since the new principal came to this school, it has gone downhill. He no longer allows parents to help in classrooms, which makes more work for teachers and less time for students. It's a shame that he feels that way and I am removing my children from the school as soon as possible. I can't possibly do a worse job in teaching them then what they are getting now!
