My kids have attended TVE for 5 yrs & overall its a really good school. Parent involvement is terrific due in large part to the high # of stay-at-home moms who provide a great deal of additional support Yes, there are some cliques- both parents and kids- but overall the people are very down to earth and warm despite the high incomes. We are always amazed by how down to earth the kids are, even the jr high and H.S. aged kids, esp. compared to so many we know in Dist. 16. There are some excellent teachers we have been lucky enough to get, and there are a few truly horrible teachers that should be fired, but unfortunately the worst thing about the school is the principal who is not a good leader, avoids confrontation, never wants to implement changes, and allows bad teachers to remain.

I'm a new parent at TVES; we are an open-enrollment family. We absolutely love the school. They have helped my daughter and she has grown in her studies, even as she was behind at the start of this 2008-2009 school year. Her teacher is excellent, as are the office staff. We have been welcomed by all.

I will be pulling my student out this year too, I think they are too worried about their excelling label to help kids who need it. The most important thing is self-esteem, and it can hurt a child's self-esteem if they feel like an outsider.
