Independence Middle School

I went here in my sixth, seventh, and half of my eighth grade year. This school is the reason I hate Yukon. I am, and was - an educated young man. I'm an artist, and very expressive, but the staff at these schools expect everyone to be the same, and to be subject to their will. I'm well-mannered, and very courteous, but I could not stand to be smothered. To say the least: I was paddled four times, suspended for six days, and had a total of 79 days of in-school suspension. If you want your child to be open-minded, and feel unafraid to express themselves - do not send them to Yukon. I'm glad I made it out. And, by the way - I graduated at the top of my class when I moved. I did terrible at Yukon. 'Just sayin'.

This has to be one of the worst ran schools in the area. Yukon has the reputation for being a very good school system and IMS is a joke. The grade schools are wonderful which makes it harder for the students as they enter a middle school that is ran like this one. One thing that I am sure of is I am not alone in the way I feel by reading the other reviews. The staff speaks very harsh to the students. The principals do not talk to parents with respect and they will not admit to any wrong doing by other staff. It almost seems like a lost cause and the people who loose are our children. Sending my child everyday to this place makes me feel like I'm not doing my job as a parent.

I find that this school's administration is unresponsive to the parents. There is a severe lack of communication between students, faculty, and parents. There seems to be no organization to anything done at this school. Sporting events are very poorly organized and often Kaotic at the very least. I never know when my child will be coming and going from the school's events . I usually find out the night before the event. That is not a lot of notice! I don't recommend this school. There is something very wrong here and there needs to be some very real changes in administration here to get things to function as they should.

This school is ill run, Has poorly organized staff, and gets a big Zero for Princiapl leadership. I am completely blown away as to how this school continues to run in such a poor and uncooperative manner. There is little communication between staff and parents. There is a complete disconnect at this school between the way this school runs compared to other schools in this same district. I do not recommend this school to any parent concerned about their childs well being or educational quality.
