A wonderful community. This school would benefit from real leadership. Principal is very inadequate. Has no control over one of her teachers who has been allowed to do as she pleases for years. This is a real statement for why we should never allow tenure. Teachers that are doing a good job should not need the protection of tenure. What a shame that two people could drag down a whole school. There have been many parents pull their children out of this environment. With the many great parents and PTO involvement it is truly a sad situation.

In the decision of public vs. private, there s no question. Fairyland is such a fine community school, that there is no reason to look elsewhere. While the school is by no means perfect, it boasts strong faculty members, who for the most part have no agenda other than providing a top quality and caring education. The PTO is very involved raising funds for programs not supported by the State of Georgia or Walker County. Through its efforts, the school has a full-time art teacher. Currently, the school s weaknesses include its music and foreign language programs; it has neither. Additionally, at some levels there is a lack understanding of the very real importance the arts play in a child s overall education. While these weaknesses are real and do need to be addressed, the overall quality of the school is very good and our family is very pleased with the education provided.

Fairyland Elementary School provides a nurturing and happy environment for students! A variety of personalities and teaching styles exist on the faculty, giving the sudents many learning opportunities. As in every school, there are students' and parents' favorite teachers, but you really can't go wrong in any grade- they all seem to truly have the childrens' best interests at heart. The PTO is active and productive, raising funds for supplimentary classes not provided by the state/county. The school/PTO provide excellent art, PE and computer classes. As of now there is no music (although techers incorporate music in the classroom and performances) or foreign language class. The media center and computer lab are updated and student friendly. Fairyland has a Pre-K program with the most competent and enthusiastic teachers around! We have/have had three students at Fairyland, and we continue to sing the praises of the school!
