I was not pleased with this last year school. I think that the students are not challenged enough and are bored. The principal of the school did not talk with students, she actually talk down to them. I have witnessed this on several occassion and by doing this it discourages the children to succeed. I feel that the students were afraid to even ask for the help that they needed.

Students from Potrero enter high school with the highest level of writing skills than any other feeder school for EMUSD. This is primarily because their emphasis in writing with thier writing portfolios starts very early. However, their mathematics program leaves a lot to be desired. There is a very low number of parents that get involved primarily because most of the parents do not know how important their involvement is in thier childs academic progress. They have a small number of extra curricular activities, which include the parks and recreation sports teams and their band. The band is usually composed of 10-13 members. This is because the students are not informed on how they can participate. Music and art classes are given as 'incentives' and are rotated through out the year making it impossible for the students to appreciate them.

Excellent leadership supports a professional staff of educators all willing to work hard for the students.
