Over the years, I have worked at many schools as a guidance counselor. My time at The Sanibel School has been, by far, the best experience! I have to work hard, and there is plenty to do but a good educator realizes that it's for the students that we put forth this effort. I suppose I could gripe about my earlier years at the school when it seemed that the community did not want to accept me there. It took time for them to trust me and I understand that now. I do my best to help all the children and their families. Do I fall short? I am sure that I do at times. I'm not perfect. Yet, each day when I cross the causeway both coming to and leaving school, I thank God that I work at such a special place and hope to continue for years to come!

The Sanibel School is a excellent school. It saddens me to read all the negative feed back. I have four children at the Sanibel School, one with a learning disability and I never in the nine years at the school felt that we were pushed out! In fact the total opposite! My child has succeeded in a very challaging high school on the account of being pushed and challenge by the Sanibel School. Parents are very involved in the school and not only in fund raising! I in fact have volunteered many years in the classroom at many different grade levels. I just don't feel I need to toot my own horn about doing so, I do it for the kids! The way I see it take your kids out if you don't like the school and quit complaining! In life not everything is handed to you on a silver platter!
The teachers are trying their best. The front office and Principal lack communication with their staff. The principal is obsessed with figures and standings; not the children. Open your mouth and you're on your way out. Fundraiser after fundraiser- still not enough paper to copy homework. 6th grade Math does not provide a Math book. Even if you are willing to buy it' or all of them. The drama and language is a atrocious; the obsession therewith surpasses all academic dialogue. Why haven't we taken our children out ? it is a two hour drive each way off island to the nearest good private school. Physical education is non existent. Not one jumping jack in two years. The childrens privacy is not respected; consequently the anger is brought home. Take your chance- do not be impressed by the status! Look at the faces of the older students, 10 to 14 as they leave school. They say it all. The enthusiasm of years past ?
