I disagree with the reviews and rating that this school has received. My childs experience with this school has been horrible. This school only cares about test scores and not the well being of the child. Children are not allowed to talk at lunchtime, if any homework is incorrect they have to miss out on things like recess, gym,music, library. Lunch is sometimes eaten in class so they can do work....my childs self esteem is going downhill in this stressful environment.
The East Salem PTA is outstanding. Parent-involvement is like no other. My son attended East Salem K - 5th grade. We loved it! When I visited the school, the faculty and staff either knew my name or acknowledged me. I often ate lunch with my son and was always involved as a room-parent. Mrs. Barnett is a phenominal 3rd-grade teacher. Mrs. Craighead was another of our favorites. Visit this school. It is definately a rare find!
I think East Salem Elementary School has a fine group of teachers. I have 2 daughters 1 that will be going into the 3rd grade & another that will be just starting. My oldest daughter has been very lucky to have had such caring teachers. They have worked with her so much. Thank you and keep up the great work.
