My grandaughter, who is hearing impaired, went to NSW and I found the school to be lacking regarding special needs children, 20 minutes of Speech & Language for the deaf children does not a part of a curriculum make. So to those who's children are lucky enough to have no special needs, maybe this is a great school, but for those of us who struggle with this need every day, it is incredibly hard. She is now attending a school designed to concentrate on her needs and even most of the teachers have the same impairment, which is a positive roll model reinforcement for my granddaughter since these children live in a silent world that incapacitates them more and more if we do not move on it. We struggled and finally were able to leave Paterson and move to a better neighborhood in Carteret NJ where she can be bused.
I feel N.S.W is a great school. I have always had an awesome communication relationship between the teacher(s) & principal. I felt I made a great decision by placing my son into this outstanding school.
I have 2 children that attend Norman s. Weir. The school is great. I love how they focus on education and high performance. I like the fact that they are required to wear uniforms so that the main emphasis is learning. It is a small school, one class per grade, so that mean the kids you start out with in your class, will be the same kids you graduate with. This school is great and if you can get in it. I would highly recommend it. -Linda
Norman S. Weir is a great school, it provides great education and is a proper and good environment for your kids to grow up with. I love this school. I've been here since 5th through 8th grade and this school has taught me a lot with the greatest teachers out there that care and teach! Right now I'm a sophmore in high school and i still look back on the great times i had at this school! This school is like one of the best in paterson and has always fascinating things for your children to be involved with and activities! I'll never forget this school and hope that one day i'll be back and watch how much this school has grown with the kids and the staff!
