My son transitioned to Bret Harte in 1st Grade after attending a really good private school for Kindergarten. The transition went very smoothly for him, largely in part to his great teacher. Every parent I speak to raves about how amazing she is. Now I'm preparing to volunteer on the campus, to get a closer look for myself. Test scores are on the rise at this school, and although we miss the community feeling among the families at the private school, I believe he will receive a quality academic experience at this school.
Our 4 children have been attending Bret Harte for the last 10 years. The leadership, teachers and parent participation is excellent. High level of expectations and teachers really care about the kids.
I think our school is great. We have teachers who are knowledgeable and have been teaching for years. We have teachers that have won numerous awards including teacher of the year. We have art, music, primary and advanced chorus and theatre project. We also have after school science adventures and study club before and after school. Our principal encourages parent to volunteer in the classrooms and in PTA. We have a very strong PTA that provides numerous events and activities for our school. I think our school and staff is the best. My son is in 4th grade and he started kindergarten here.
