Lawrence school offers a well balanced, high quality curriculum. Orchestra classes are avaliable. Reading interventions are provided to all students, as well as after school tutoring.

Ana Lawrence Intermediate School is located just north of the Yaqui Tribe's Casino del Sol on Jeffry. The school is responsible for teaching the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades to the half Yaqui/half Mexican student population. Test scores do not reflect the intelligence and talent of these students and their teachers who have three student produced books on the topics of Yaqui lifeways and poetry. Last year I attended a play produced by Jennifer Metzler and her third grade students, which told the story Navajo Weaving. It was the most touching play I have ever seen and was accompanied by music. Additionally, the students are all very talented artists. Completely organic Weaving displays by the children are in the library for your pleasure. Librarian Elda Patrick organized an art project in which the children made a huge map of the United States, which is on display in the lobby.

Ana Lawrence Intermediate School has a lovey folklorico program after school. The children learn traditional mexican dance and perform at school functions. The folklorico is taught by Senora Reyes. The teachers at Lawrence have advanced degrees and are very good teachers. The campus is lovely with 2 large soccer fields and a garden.
