I understand that some students do need to be pushed, but they must also push themselves. Teachers address this issue at the beginning of the year saying that they will not track you down if you are missing an assignment. They are preparing us for what college will be like. I am positive that is what all parents would love: to have a son or daughter ready to make the next step in their lives, at college. And yes, there is fights and students roaming halls, but find a public school, or any school, that does not have one student skip throughout an entire school day. Administrators are obviously trying to prevent this from happening at Case, as in other schools, but ultimately, it's the students choice. The staff at Case cares about the students and attempts to help all students, now it's the students job to accept the help.

My son is a 10th grader at CHS and has had declining grades since starting this year. I know he is easily capable of getting a's and b's if he is pushed. The core subject teachers that my son has are good teachers, but they do not ride him to turn things in or alert me if he is behind. Kids who are naturally responsible and turn in assigments properly are fine, but kids who do not are failing. A teacher should be able to see that if a student is not good at being responsible, they need to help them as well as alert parents right away. Grades are reflective of how much a teacher wants to invest in a student, both in and out of the classroom. Unfortunately, some of the teachers I deal with are not investing much. Hopefully that changes in the second semester.
I substitute teach in all the Racine high schools. Case is on the right track. If a student wants to get an education, he/she certainly can do it on several levels. A student has control over his/her educational destiny. Positive effort is all that is needed. There are many excellent dedicated teachers, counselors, and administrators at Case. There is an excellent International Baccalaureate program. Besides being a substitute teacher in this school, I have three children who graduated from Case. They are all outstanding citizens who contribute positively to society.

Being raised under the assumption that I would graduate from Case I wanted so badly to be an 'Eagle' since I was in middle school.Well I was an Eagle for 1 year and I'd like to say I'm glad my family moved to the country away from all the gang bangers, drug dealers, and other ridiculousness of that school. I nearly failed freshman year because I didndt care and neither did the teachers now I'm a Sparta Spartan Senior with all A's. I wish I had never gone to Case!
