To correct the prior review, the school still is overcrowded and they still use portable units as well as a huge portable unit in the rear of the school. Another new elementary is needed in order to correct this problem issue.

We love the area of Paulding that we live in, (Bentwater subdivision). This area of Paulding is not backward at all as one reviewer has commented. The people are nice. The scenery is nice. The roads are not congested. The houses are not stacked right up next to each other. There is breathing room. The area is growing and there are a lot of beautiful homes and new stores. We feel that we live in a very family-friendly area. Also, the overcrowding issue that has been previously mentioned in earlier reviews has been alleviated as a new elementary school has opened. There are no more portables in use at the school. They are gone. Over 700 kids were transferred to Burnt Hickory Elementary. We feel that Shelton has provided our son with a great learning environment. His teacher cares and has challenged him academically. We couldn't be more pleased.

My family and I believe that shelton is a great school! The principle is great she listened to our needs and what we wanted for our sons education and complied. His present teacher is doing a great job as well and really cares for the students learning growth. I'f you present your case right to the staff you will get the right action. NISA

When we moved to this area, we thought due to the growth, the schools had to be good. NOT TRUE. Do not let Shelton's test scores fool you. The teachers are good but the principal does not serve the parents at all. She is impossible to get in touch with, willl not return calls, and does not follow up as she says she will. I was shocked at the unresponsiveness from her. I have never experienced anything like it. Paulding County is still very backwards, and with the growth rate, all focus is on building schools. The bar is set extremely low; little homework; little if any technology in the schools; no teaching goes on in the entire spring other than CRCT practice, hence, the higher test scores.
