We appreciate hearing your comments about how we can make MHS a better learning environment. We are in the process of enlarging some of the learning areas to enhance learning opportunities for students. There is little question that the diversity of the school makes it a wonderful place to go and learn.

I attend merrillville high school and i have been for 2 years now. Although many say we lack teachers and the teachers we do have don't work hard enough, coming from a students point of view, our school is one of the best. For the students who want to learn and get an education, it's the school to succeed. As for our 'behavioral' problem, it's more of an administration problem. I believe that our principles have a tendency to over-exaggerate on the small things instead of the more major problems. However, I must say that i believe this is one of the best schools in our area.
The school is political and prejudiced pertaining to overall education and the athletic department is misleading in its values and what sportsmanship represents.
Merrillville High School is one of the greatest schools to attend. They are very up to date with the technology as far as excellent computers, grading systems ect. Many of the teachers participate and sponser the students in all of the different activities. The teachers are wonderful and provide great education. They are also very supportive and they always keep in mind the intrest of the kids. Our school is known for its excellent football teams over the years and excellent indivuals that participated in track. Not to mention the fact that a two time world olympic medalist, David Neville, graduated from Merrillville. Even though Merrillville high school is a great place to recieve education there can be problems with the administration staff. The administration seems to be 'gung-ho' about all the wrong things. They punish the good students and leave the bad ones in school. They don't punish the football players.
