Silver lake is such a transparent school system. They claim they want whats best for the kids while they cut programs . The school use to have good eletive offerings.. graphics..home eco...

I believe that Silver Lake has done an unsatisfactory job with teaching my children. There is little electives and teachers do not seem to have an overall interest in the children. I made the decision to move from Boston to Kingston after learning about the newly built school, hoping it would give my children a better learning environment when one of them was an 8th grader and the other 2 were in elementary school. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Where they last attended school teachers had a much greater interest in helping the children during their current lives and helped encourage them to reach a brighter future, at Silver Lake I observed a lack of want from the staff to help the children. Also, their athletic department seem to be below other schools and their MCAS testing scores are lower then other schools in the district. I was not happy with SLRHS.
I am able to compare the local private school and SLRHS. I am far more impressed with the educational opportunities at Silver Lake. The teachers, guidance staff and administration all seem to take a genuine interest in your childs sucess. The majority of the teachers go above and beyound with extensive after school hours for extra help or they are out on the fields coaching a sport. The transformation this school has made over the past 5 years is incredible
