My past experience at this school has been both positive and negative. I have found each class has a wide range of advanced, intermittent, and academically challenged students. Sometimes teachers can be pulled trying to educate all groups. The school is highly competitive in terms of academics. If your child requires spec. ed. and requires resource room, they do not have it at this school. If you have an advanced child, you may have difficulties finding challenging assignments. Advanced learners may be utilized as tutors. The curriculum is fast paced and some students may require a paid tutor at some point.

I have had two children attend Cottage St. School, the younger one completing the fifth grade this year. The schools in Sharon, in general, are excellent is most areas. What makes this elementary school stand out is the incredible diversity of the students, outstanding leadership, and a decisive but caring faculty. As an example, my son entered the fifth grade proficient in his academics, but lacking in a desire to read or use his creative writing skills (which was noticed by his fourth grade teacher). The administration and faculty placed him with a teacher who would encourage both the reading and the writing. He ends the academic year reading (at an eighth grade level)voraciously, writing journal entries, poetry and e-mails - for fun, and with an increased sense of pride, esteem and joy.
