Christ Episcopal School, located in the historic district of Rockville, MD, provides a wonderful and exceptional educational environment for children from 3 years old to eighth grade. In our Preschool, the children learn through play in a very creative, fun and child-centered environment. Our kindergarten through eighth grade program is one characterized by- daily chapel a warm, supportive and caring atmosphere an environment in where each student is encouraged to try and reach one s potential under the guidance of experienced and dedicated teachers a challenging academic program opportunities for students to learn special subjects such as computers, library, art, music, Spanish and physical education Children in the Lower School, grades kindergarten through fourth grade, are taught in a self-contained classroom where they learn the basics of reading, writing, and math in addition to the special subjects. The Middle School students in grades five through eight are in a departmentalized, academically rigorous program. Building on previous skills, they are taught how to organize their work, conduct research projects, work in small groups and further develop their critical thinking skills. Middle School students lead in the Student Government, Builders club and also serve as chapel partners for the younger children. The school has an emerging after school sports program in soccer, basketball and swimming. Community service activities occur throughout the school year. Projects involve local opportunities for giving such as the City of Rockville Holiday Food Drive, the Chase Men s Shelter and the Episcopal Center for Children in addition to national and global opportunities such as Katrina relief and UNICEF. Reaching out and giving to others in need is an important component of life at Christ Episcopal School. I've found our experience at CES to be a good one. The community is great. The small classes are great. The academics are challenging. But one thing I've noticed is that if your child does not learn in their traditional way, it can be a struggle at times. The teachers move at a fast pace, but don't always allow or can adapt for individual learning styles.

As a discriminating parent of a first grader, Christ Episcopal School is simply terrific. Although emphasis on rigorous academics produces high student achievement, it is the school s community that makes it such a special learning environment. After visiting a classroom building, one can only come away with a smile at seeing and hearing such enthusiasm and commitment. Christ Episcopal School in run, thank to the leadership of its headmistress, to serve the needs of its students not the faculty. Parents are encouraged to participate in their child s education and are kept well informed on how and what their child is doing at school. If you are looking for a school that offers a safe, caring and nurturing environment, combined with high academic standards, check out Christ Episcopal School. You will find a special place that will give your child a rock solid foundation for a future of social and academic success.

Christ Episcopal School offers a curriculum that is particularly strong in language, literature, and humanities. The class size is small, enabling interactive classroom discussion involving all students. There are consequences, in addition to a lower grade, for incomplete homework. If an assignment is incomplete, the student must sign a 'missing homework' classroom log book. If the student has three missing assignments, parents are notified. Prior to the 7th grade, the daily homework assignments are placed on a website, so parents are able to view present and future assignments. The school truly strives toward building the organizational skills of all students. In this small school, there is no Band and there are limited athletic teams. There is a wonderful focus on theater with annual productions of both a 7th grade musical and an 8th grade Shakespeare performance. Parent involvement is strong, but Parent Association meetings scheduled at 8:30AM may limit organizational participation.
