We have been thrilled with the attention and recognition our children have received at Antietam. While there is not a lot the school can do about PWC's unfortunate choice of math curriculum (math investigations) they are making up for it in quality of instruction!

Having my children at this school has been a wonderful experience. The staff is so welcoming to parents and encourages parental involvement. My son is in the gifted program but may also have LD/ADHD issues - the level of support I have received from his teachers and the administrative staff has been phenomenal! The music program is great - many opportunities for the kids to perform. There are many PTA-sponsored family activities to attend. It is a very close knit community, but still very welcoming to newcomers.

There has been alot of teacher turn over in the last 3-4yrs. Some teachers stay only 1 year. There are almost no after school activities and they don't seem to encourage this. Some teachers at this school are superior some are a little more weak. The art/music program are very good, not so much the p.E. The special ed program is very good and the signet program great. What makes this school great are the parents and kids and the hard work they put into this school.

I used this website when I was searching for a home. While my family and I did not find our dream home, what we did find was better than we could of asked for and that was having Antietam Elementary for our children. The Principle is outstanding and very involved in all the school activities. I was able to stay in touch with my kids teacher by email and if I could not make a conference, they would accommodate me by doing it over the phone. Although most parents have to deal with the DC traffic, it never affected their volunteering and it was the parent's involvement that impressed me the most. When you have parents who care about their child's education, then it fosters a better learning environment in the school. Sincerely, Happy Parents
