I have been extremely pleased with this school. There are opportunities for advanced kids. The school services children with a wide variety of needs but there are enrichment opportunities for the kids. My daughters' teachers have usually (okay there was one mediocre teacher) varied assignments based on the skill level of the children and assigned more challenging projexts to kids that need it. I spoke to the prinicpal about the needs of my gifted daughter and she was very knowledgable and helpful. There are many enrichment programs and my daughter has had the opportunity to participate in many including robotics club and math club. I have found communication excellent. Many parents volunteer. There is an active PTA that raises lots of funs to ensure there is a vibrant cultural arts program, field trips, etc. Do parents have to make an effort-
The staff at Nathaniel Morton go above and beyond for our children. The PTA creates many new experiences for our children and shows them how to give back to others less fortunate.

I am very surprise by the other review. I also moved here from another state where my daughter went to a private elementary school. I am very involved in my childs education and have a masters from an Ivy League college myself. The parent involvement in NMES is great. The PTO is very involved and raised lots of $$ for cultural arts programming and events at the school. My child is has been involved in many special programs at the school including band, chorus, darama club and math club. There is no separate 'gifted program' which is true for the vast majority of MA public schools as there is no state funding for them. However, there certainly is placement of kids so that those that need extra challenge can receive it. The home-school communication is good but parents must make effort as well. I have always had calls and emails returned promptly.

I come from out of state and this school doesn't even begin to compare to others. the parent involvement is almost nil the parent teacher relations is lax unless you know the teacher from previous kids. there is no advance placement for kids that are accelerated in reading no reading mentors every kid is forced to read on the lowest common denominator no principal teacher communication i was and continue to be disappointed in this school system
