My child is in the 1st grade at Long Branch Elem. I think this school and the entire county school system could use more teacher education when it comes to dealing with special needs children. Not all children are 'cookie cutter' type and this school needs to become up to date with new techniques and ways to educate these children.

Our family recently moved to Dahlonega from Alpharetta and I am very pleased with Long Branch. The principal is very professional, approachable and nice. My son has now had a kindergarten teacher and is starting 1st grade. I have been very impressed with both teachers expecially in regards to their persistence with teaching self-control and respect to a 6 year old boy. His teacher for 1st grade is a PHD level teacher. He has been praised for his reading skills. Long Branch has an accelerated reader program and encourages fast learners. My son also loves the food and always wants extras. I'm a big fan of Long Branch Elementary School. Thanks to all the staff there.

The teachers my children have had to date are fantastic. My only complaint would be that schools in general need to figure out how to better engage boys. The structure of the school day seems to fit a girls interests and not so much a boys'. Most boys are active hands on learners and sitting all day can lose their attention and desire to lean. Apart from this, I have been pleased with the teachers and the communication.
