I am so pleased that my son attends GES. They're a well organized group from top to bottom. And I love the diversity among the students.

After sending our son to a prestigious private preschool from the time he was 2 years old, we made the decision to go to public school beginning with Kindergarten. We are so pleased with Germantown Elementary, and have found that our son is academically more advanced at GES than his friends who still attend private schools. GES is a true neighborhood school, with many children walking or riding bikes to school. The administration, faculty and staff are first rate, and the principal, Mrs. Payne, works hard to insure that there is a good balance between work and play for the kids. There is a very high level of parent involvement, as well, which enriches the elementary school experience for all of the students. Excellent school!

My kindergarten son attends this school and I am very pleased that he has both PE and outdoor playtime (weather permitting) every day. Weekly, he also attends library time, music, art, and computer lab, things I was afraid he would not encounter in a public school. There is a nice diversity at the school. Many nationalities and colors and backgrounds. Many children walk to the school and many children stay after to play at the playground. It is a good place to get to know other parents and a real testimony for the neighborhood school.

Germantown is a close knit school with small teacher/child ratios which is a good thing. However, too much focus on behavior and not academics. Don't like the idea of 'every thing the child does' requires a note to parent or a marking of his conduct card/sheet. The atmosphere is great but the constant monitoring of behavior causes more stress on the student. Wish the concern/notices regarding academics were just a plentiful as the notices for conduct.
