We are now 8 months into my son's K-5 year. I have loved every part of this school. Great communication and opportunity for parent involvement. The school calendar is wonderful. Not a lot of half days and random days off. Our son has learned so much and enjoys school. The faces of the students and teachers tell you all you need to know. They seem happy. Go DFE!

The staff is very warm and friendly. I am concerned about the large amount of non-instructional time they have. The students have 30 min. for recess, 30 min. (at least) for lunch, and appx. 40 min. for specials. The school day is only 6.5 hrs. two of those hours (at least) is spent away from direct instruction. I think if they spent a little more time on student achievement they kids would score off the charts on the standardized test.

We attended the Arts and Crafts Festival held yesterday at DFE...it was awesome!! You could tell a lot of hard work and thought went into putting this together. Just another reflection of how great this school really is!

I've appreciated the extra lengths the facutly has gone to in order to help the DFE parents better understand their child's progress in school. Teachers send home a lenghty monthly commentary which details not only how my child is doing, but also spells out what will be taught over the next four weeks and how it will be evaluated. The school put in place a fine arts program of 1 hour per day for each student. We were thrilled! The administration and staff are to be commended for the work and thought they have put into their overall program. As a parent, I applaud their efforts! Dragons Are Number 1!
