orcas island high school has poor academics and teaching staff. each year they ask us for more money and we give it to them. each year they may raise enough but its just going to happen every year. they dont know how to use there money wisely. the kids there are not nice. if i had the choice i would send my child to the Christian school due to there new teaching staff and education.

We moved here four years ago with one child a senior in HS, one a freshman, and one in seventh grade. This school district is far superior to the one we left (also in Washington) and better than most I have seen. It is small. But students are encouraged to be who they are, and the tolerance of differing views and life choices is commendable. Academically the school offers true rigor, and the teachers work hard to held the non-academically inclined to be included and succeed. There are no fewer than 7 AP options, and those courses are well taught and result in most students getting a 3 or better on the AP exams that they take. There is a wonderful feel of family in the school--between student AND teachers, and the community is well involved and supportive of the school as well. GREAT school!
