Houston County High School

This school is amazing i've been through 3 different high schools now and this is the only school that made me feel the most at home. Its very school spirited and fun i loved it and miss it!

HOCO is a medium school in a medium environment -- housing is growing here so there in an influx of a varied type of people, however the investment in the school was largely made when it was originally built. There is need for improved athletic facilities--a fieldhouse in addition t the single gym would be helpful to improve HOCOs average sports performance. My sons both have made friends in the community and the area is welcoming to families, however with exception of restaurants and mild shopping in the area this is little entertain our children outside of the school programs. These issues are not unique to HOCO compared to the other schools in the area - however HOCO is capable of more since the surrounding community is newer and more affluent as compared to most towns in the area and families working in Macon and living here has grown.

it is an awesome school. the people here are very friendly and kind. the teachers are very knowlegdeable about their job and they have alot of patience. overall it is a wonderful school

As a former student of Houston County High Schoo, I would recomend it to anyone moving into the area. The other schools are good too. I would not totally go along with what the parents say about the school being bad for their children and that they are dissapointed. I am currently attending Valdosta State to become a Special Education teacher, thanks to Houston County High and the people there. I want to go back to teach there and would like my children to attend the school too.
