If you are coming from out of state, this school system's policies will shock you. Homework is not counted towards the student's grades. Your child will be considered unexcused from school if you keep them home while they are sick and don't seek a doctor's excuse. It strikes me funny that on parents' night, the principal said a note from the doctor for a child home sick with the flu would be excused with the pandemic of H1N1 flu expected. So, it I keep my child home for a fever and don't seek the doctor, my child is unexcused. But, if I keep my child home for suspected H1N1 flu, it's excused. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

All 3 of my children attended Apollo Elem and for the most part I was happy. I found the open floor plan distracting and my children complained constantly that they could not hear thier own teacher half the time over other surrounding teachers. The teachers and principal at Apollo were very friendly and helpful. The same could not be said as far as the front office. A woman working in the front office and the vice principal were not very friendly or welcoming. I agree the counselor truly needs to be replaced. We have sinced moved out of state but feel my children have received a relatively good education from attending Apollo .

I am a parent of two wonderful little girls!! They have both attended Apollo for several years and love it!! I am also a teacher there. We drive a great distance for my children to attend this school and for me to teach here. This is because the school is fabulous!! The teachers are caring and do all that is in there power to see these students succeed! The administration is also a reason that I teach here, she works hard to assure us of a safe and stelar teaching environment. If you are looking for a school for your child, Apollo is the best around!

My children have been students at Apollo Elementary from 1st grade-5th grade! My husband and I chose Apollo because of the excellent structure and fabulous teachers. My oldest child has austism and the teachers were phenonmenal with her. We would not allow her to be pulled for Sped and the teachers and principal were fabulous. We were apprehensive about the open classroom setting, but it turned out to be an asset. At first, it was an adjustment but in the end both of my children adjusted to it quite well. My only negative was with the school counselor. If you want anything done for Special Education or AIM evaluation, go next door to the evaluation center or stay on top of her! With a new counselor, this would be the perfect school.
