I'm currently in PHS, and I honestly do not like it. I just moved here from Texas and the standards are so different. The students run over the class, and I do not leave school learning a single thing. The teachers are push overs, and students do whatever. I would love to have some kind of discipline, at least I was learning in Texas.
Petersburg has already challenged my son academically in the first week of school and I feel GREAT that his teachers care about his overall well-being.
petersburg high was a breeze for me and i dont mean that in a good way. the reason im saying this is because I feel that the teachers need to focus more on educating the students. but despite the negative rep that the high school has, i support PHS 110 percent.
PHS has a wonderful program. Unfortunately, it does not have the students nor teachers to back up these programs. Their main focus is to pass the SOLs and get out of the High School, not to prepare for the future. Unfortunately, the community does not involve themselves 100 percent.
