August 4, 2005 January 2005 Comment As the new incoming Head of School (July 2005), I can not comment on the past, but can only tell you about the changes being instituted at the school. The old discipline system that is mentioned has been eliminated (weekend taken away) by the new Dean of Students with a proven system from his previous school. The campus facilities are being updated as finances permit, and the school now uses an outside cleaning service to maintain its dormitories. In regards to the athletic center project, I can only say that the construction documents for the building will be completed in September 2005, and the project will go out to bid in October with a groundbreaking to follow which will be dependent upon the weather, and the bid process. December 2004 Comment As the new incoming Head of School (July 2005), I need to address the statements made. Founded almost fifty years ago, Marvelwood is a small private school for children that are willing to get involved in their own education and committed to the challenge of preparing for college. Originally located in Cornwall, Connecticut, Marvelwood moved to the former Girl s Kent campus in the mid 90 s. Built in the early 1960 s, the campus has gone through a number of renovations, and is slowly being updated once again to meet the needs of our students and faculty. The school is in the midst of a capital campaign to build a new gymnasium, and once complete will begin a campaign to renovate the campus. Although some of our students have gone through a therapeutic program, they have not come out of drug rehab. Obviously I can not comment on the past, but can only encourage parents to look at Marvelwood and the educational opportunities at the school and to make your own decision when you visit the campus. Marvelwood has been educating students for almost fifty years, and has a solid alumni base that can attest to the mission at Marvelwood.

Marvelwood is the best. Teachers and staff are dedicated, caring and exceptional. Come see for yourself, this is a great place to be.

I was a student at Marvelwood and have also taught summer school there for several summers. The reason that I chose to attend Marvelwood was because it seemed to be very warm and more personal than the many boarding schools I visited. The reason that I love the school is because the teachers are extremely devoted to the success of the students. Recently, Marvelwood's music department has improved significantly, there are more AP classes available, and the teachers who I love still work there. I highly recommend Marvelwood as it is unique and a place of success as well as lasting memories.

My son is currently a sophmore at The Marvelwood School. I have seen some of the past parent comments and feel I have to say something about the new Marvelwood School. We have been lucky enough to find an exceptional new headmaster this year who has made some incredible improvements to our school. We are fast becoming a more competitive and academic high school and in a few years I predict we will be one of the most sought after boarding schools. Marvelwood is building a new gymnasium and arts center and is remodeling the dorms. The main building and the dining hall have already been remodeled. The school has always been known for it's attentiveness to the individual student and that will never change. My son has benefited and matured in every way! All previous complaints belong to the old Marvelwood School and I suggest that all potential applicants come visit us.
