Mount Greenwood Elementary School has fantastic teachers who work hard to help every student achieve his/her potential. Our principal, Ms. Reidy, is a strong advocate for our children.

Mt. Greenwood is anything but a great public school. Academically maybe but the homework is totally outrageous! When a child spends more time doing homework and has little time to do other things, there is a problem. What are teachers getting paid for?????? The new principal is anything but fair and she is more interested in keeping up 'school academic standards' than trying to help those who are not braniacs. Not every child is a superstar and each child is entitled to a free and appropriate education. There are things going on in the school and children whose parents take a stand for their children are told not to say anything when they go home. I am seriously thinking about risking going broke and sending them to parochial school. Children should enjoy learning and not feel like so inundated or fearful that they no longer want to go to school.

This school is by far the best school on the south side. I moved over from a nearby school and can not believe the difference. The former assistant prinicpal has taken the principal position and has kept the school running very organized and keeps her expectiations of the kids very high. The teachers care about the kids and want them to be successful. I am so happy I enrolled them at mount greenwood and wish I had done it earlier.
