I believe that some of the teachers are excellent at Wickman. However, there are some who are totally insensitive toward children who treat them like charges in a reform school. I like the emphasis on Accelerated Reader along with the excellent website which supports the AR program. I truly believe that the teachers need to not only emphasize teaching but also the learning aspect. Far too much of the teaching is left up to the parents through the extensive amounts of homework given on a daily basis. The true mettle of a teacher is shown through what can be accomplished in the class as opposed to leaving the instructional process up to the parents. I believe that the recent API of over 900 points is in large part due to the efforts of strong parents at Wickman.

My children love Wickman! It is a great schools with many opportunities for the children and parents to be involved. I am a little concerned with the amount of homework in the upper grades. My son who is a great student can spend from 4:30 pm until 10:00 pm doing homework/ studying for a test. We have had some amazing teachers and even though I believe the homework is a bit excessive I still appreciate all the work the teacher's and parents put into making it one big family.
