In a time when teaching, statewide (nationwide?), has become a dehumanizing profession (thanks to top-down fear-driven responses to high-stakes testing and NCLB) Eleanor Roosevelt Community Learning Center (ERCLC.org) is an island of sanity and humanity. I have taught in public, private, and international schools since 1972. I have taught in some very good and some absolutely awful schools. At ERCLC my job is to coach families through their homeschooling experience and to teach enrichment courses on campus. Of my entire career, ERCLC has been the most rewarding place to teach. I am encouraged and enabled to follow my instincts for good teaching, not just test-prep. I am free to encourage parents to focus on their children's real needs, not just their test scores. ERCLC provides a warm, supportive environment for children, parents, and faculty. This liberating atmosphere draws out the best in everyone.

This school is the best I have ever seen. When I first decided to home school I was afraid but Eleanor Roosevelt gave me the courage to do it. The staff is way above average in knowledge, expertise and leadership. The education coordinators are always there with advice to help you through the tough spots. The curriculum is outstanding.

Wonderful resource for parents who want the best that both homeschooling and public education have to offer...
