Waldorf education teaches children to be critical thinkers, encourage lifestyles that promote integrity, as well as providing a well-rounded education. More and more colleges recognize the quality of the students coming out of a Waldorf education. Live Oak Charter School brings this teaching philosophy to the public school system, allowing those of us who cannot afford private school, the opportunity for our children to experience this wonderful educational path. With this type of education, not only are our children rewarded with a wonderful school experience, but gives hope that some of today's kids will be tomorrow's leaders, not forging ahead for monetary gain alone, but with integrity and the desire to do the right thing.

We had a beyond excellent teacher, then got a awful teacher, programs keep getting cut, they don't support LD kids, over dependent on parent involvement, great families! Live oak could be great If they'd get qualified leadership& stopped being a small dysfunctional family. It's sad school admin can't follow thru for parents, could be magnificant school if they had a qualified admin team & better communication between staff & families. Young school, that needs professional direction, if ur willing to risk ur kids academics the gamble could pay off wonderfully or you may flounder in the holes as they erratically try to handle their short comings

I totally agree that what you get at Live oak charter school you might not get at many other places. The school is rich in applying a waldorf based public curriculum, which to me, is even better than a private school education< at live oak you get the best of both worlds. The community itself is so integrated and totally accepting, no racism here like another waldorf charter school very close by seems to have not major challengers with, no stuck up attitudes that only let's in a select few either... This school is up and coming and wonderful!

Live Oak does indeed offer a rich curriculum that is based upon the developmental needs of the child. They do indeed learn handwork, which has a specific role in brain development. I am more than pleased with my child's progress at Live Oak. There are also plenty of opportunities to be involved as a parent.
