So far, our experience has been great. Our child has a new teacher who is very enthusiastic, and the teacher has tailored the class to suit the different levels of children. The teacher expects good behavior from all - but for those children who already know how to read and write - the teacher comes up with additional tasks for them to work on. And there is Encore and separate classes for reading and such down the line. We went into Westmeade nervous and with low expectations based on the Urban legends around Nashville. So far each and everyone of our our expectations has been exceeded. More importantly, our child looks forward to going to school every day.
Ms. McIntyre is awesome. She goes beyond the call of duty in the library. Music teacher is awesome!! Art teacher is awesome!! Communication is not that great at this school. This is an area that they are working on. School focuses mostly upon at-risk children. If your child is average or above average in terms of their grades etc you are expected to re-teach skills at home. Sink or swim is present at this school. Sadly the at-risk children seem to sink in spite of the school trying to help them. Limited resources available to the average and above average children at this school. However, they try,
I have 3 children who have attended Westmeade for K - 4, and 1 who is still attending the school. We have totally loved the school and been very happy with each of the teachers our children have been under. The school is also multi-ethnic to a degree, for which we are thankful. We feel this has futher prepared our kids for the world in which we live. Westmeade is a GREAT school
I have two children who have attended Westmeade Elementary. My eldest is now in middle school and she was well prepared. My youngest is currently attending Westmeade and is being nurtured in a positive environment every day! We chose to live in the Bellevue area due to faabulous reputation of the public school system, and we haven't been disappointed.
