Mead Elementary School is a terrific school. As the previous parent mentioned the school has a caring, engaged, no-nonsense Principal who is dedicated to improving the school. For the most part, the teachers are very good and really seem to care about their students.

What I like about the school is, The Teachers and The Excellent Principal. The Principal is dedicated 100%. She is very friendly and caring. She is excellent with students.

Mead elementary is a good school. The art, music, PE and computer time are age appropriate and impressive. The music teacher had musicals for different grades and the art teacher literally filled the hallways for an annual art show. The principle knows the names of all 400+ students and who their parents are. She cares about our kids. Although it was inconvenient she locked the doors to limit traffic through the school and ensure the safety of our kids. The school has good community support both financially and physically. The parent teacher committee is effective but not particularly welcoming to new volunteers. The ability of this organization to branch out and utilize a larger percentage of the parent community would benefit the school even more. The teachers are good but interaction with them is limited to a couple parent teacher conferences per year unless you are a frequent volunteer.

The music & PE teachers are refreshing & talented. Several individual teachers are very loving & gifted in teaching. The Principal has lost a lot of our respect this year- too political & loses the children as her main focus. The math program is terrible. It is meant to be a 'supplemental program' - we use it as the primary math program. The school district's Board of Education is a joke. All in all: With a major change of leadership from top of the district (Board) to the bottom (Principal) - Mead Elementary would be a 10. As it stands: solid 5.
