My son got an excellent education from Menchville. People think that Newport News schools are below par. But I disagree. My son got an excellent education and great opportunities, from k all the way to 12!!
Having switched to Menchville from a private school, our child is flourishing in comparison! The teachers we've come across are great, the kids are great, and the athletics fit into what our child participates in. We're all extremely happy with the school.
As a former student and former teacher I like Menchville. As a student I was blessed to have great teachers who I still talk to today and friends I still keep in contact with today too. We didnt have too many fights (if we did, I didnt know about it). When I was a teacher there(grad in 98 and came back about 6 or 7 years later) there are a lot of things going on social wise I didnt approve of between the students(but if you werent involved in it, they didnt bother you with it) but academically, Menchville is a great school. I would recommend sending you child there because its a great school and the most 'balanced' school in Newport News.
