I absolutely love this school. We moved here about a year and a half ago and my son was struggling a little with learning to read. He is now in second grade and reading at a fifth grade level. The staff is very knowledgeable andy ou can tell they really care about the kids. The parent invovlement at this school is really great too.
The staff at Fort Mill Elementary are very genuine, however, I feel that this school prepares students for testing, such as the new PASS test diligently. I understand that passing the test is of the utmost importance, yet I think it is more advantagous to the school's ranking and not the student because achieving an overall education would be much more beneficial to students! If you reside in SC or in nearby Macklenburg county in NC, I would strongly suggest sending your child to a private school to ensure that they are prepared for their future endeavors! Good Luck...

I LOVE this school! My seven year old is reading well above her level and is a total math whiz! The teachers are so caring, yet strict when they need to be, and very patient. My girl has loved ALL her teachers since starting there from Kindergarten. I don't put too much faith in any ranking system, my girl and her friends are doing VERY well. I hear nothing but good things from parents (who are mostly people from other states, some of which 'rank' higher than SC schools).
Have had children in Fort Mill schools going on 11 years. Initially heard great things. Experiences and observations say otherwise. South Carolina ranks last nationally and Fort Mill schools are no exception. Academics and extra curricular opportunities are better than most rural areas, but this is not saying much. Children are not adeqately prepared for post secondary education.
