Hopkins High school has plenty to offer each student if they are willing to work at it. It is a great school with high academic rigor and plenty of choices for both academic and other activities.
I just graduated from this school, and I must say it does a very good job. The caveat is that your child must pursue the academic rigor the school has to offer. It's a great school and the amount of students going to Ivy Leagues this year shows it.
I am a graduate of Hopkins High School, now my children attend the school. I hoped that one thing would change about the school since I have attended. If you are a person of color, attending the Hopkins School District; you have to work extra hard to achieve your goals (in education & extra circulars). If your child is strong willed/minded this is the best place for a great education. I wished that the politics would just go away though!
We live in Minnetonka and open-enrolled our two children in Hopkins. The drive is well worth it. This is the best school I have ever worked with including several private schools. I can't believe that anyone could say anything negative about the Hopkins School District.
