Union Mine High School

My eldest daughter graduated from UM in 05; she graduates from a UC school in June 09 with a degree in Neuro-biology and is going to medical school. Her younger brother also excelled at UM in both academics and in sports all four years. He graduates from UM in 09; he was accepted at at 4 UC's and wants to also obtain a professional degree. Union Mine is safe, is responsive to parents and has a beautiful, well maintained campus. We came to UM in 2001 and in the 8 yrs, UM has sent our daughter and son to awesome UC university's. You run a great school principls Mr. Fickle and Mr. DeVille. GO UM!

Good, clean, neat, polite and well maintained school. Good sports program and seems like a healthy attitude.

Clean, energetic environment! Lots of resources and involved teachers. Unfortunately, foreign lagnuage selection has decreased due to funding. Love the Block Scheduling - for BOTH my 'academic' focused student and my not so 'academic' student. Great Career Center

This is an excellent school in all regards. My son is a good student, and I was worried that he would 'burn out' as some good students do, in a hard-driving 'highly competitive' school. However, at Union Mine he is receiving an excellent education in all areas, is not 'stressed out', is having a good time, is participating in a superb athletic program, and is preparing to apply to highly competitive universities. My only criticism: no orchestra program, no string ensemble - but this part of California seems only to have school bands - marching bands, concert bands, jazz bands, little or nothing in high school for classical music (with some rare exceptions) - too bad. My son studied violin for many years but now has no orchestra or group to play with.
