i go to this school and its a very good school to attend no one knows what we feel when people say that we arn't good enough and that just makes us want to strive for excellance even more
I wish to state that it is not the school that is failing the kids, it is the education they are receiving. The No Child Left Behind is in no way helping these kids. I have a child in the school and have watched him pass classes that in no way he should have. You bring it up to the teachers and they themselves give you dumb answers. What ever happened to teachers being there for the kids and actually teaching them, not just passing them because the government says they have to. By the time my son graduates, he will in no way have all he needs to even read or write. It is pretty sad. As much time as we put in to trying to help him we do not have the back up from the teachers.
Hey I agree with the latest entry. There are many successful graduates of Waianae High School. Success is based on how hard you are willing to work at it and how motivated you are. I have family members who graduated from private school, not doing much now and others who graduated from WHS and are professionals. Individuals make the difference for themselves not necessarily the school because there are too many other resources out there to help with advancing in reading and math. We know our daughter is a Jr. in taking AP Calculus & AP British Lit., 3rd yr Japanese all at WHS.
This is a great school and I don't care about what anybody else thinks. You need to go to this school to truly feel what we do. I honestly get a great education, have great opportunities for extra curricular activities and I think its worth having others frown upon us because they see the negativity in things and aren't optimistic enough.
