Parent involvement is very high, academic programs while modest are very thorough and there are the basic extra-cirricular activities available for a school of this size. My kids love it there.

My son is currently in 8th grade, and my daughter is in 6th grade at Amity Middle School. I moved to Amity 3 1/2 years ago from a larger district to ensure my children completed their education in a small, nurturing environment, with excellent teachers who held them to high academic standards. I have been extremely pleased with their academic, and social/emotional progress. Beginning with their time at Amity Elementary, they have attended a small school, with small class sizes. They were encouraged and supported because teachers are able to develop relationships with each student. Small class size, small schools, and a commitment to high standards has resulted in a relevant, rigorous, yet very caring and personal experience for my children. Another wonderful aspect of Amity School District is the area of athletics, where all students have the opportunity to participate. On a scale of 1-10, I give Amity a '10+'.

I feel that the change in principals was very hard on students. The current principle didn't make an easy transistion and was inconsistent with punishments. Nearly all of the 8th grade students had a Legitimate grudge agaisnt the principle or his pratices. No matter what compromises people were willing to make it always ended his way. Althiugh teaching countinued to be great, I can't wait to be in high school!
