Well, this is my daughter's 2nd year at NEHS. At first, I truly had lots of concerns about the safety of the students. The school was just too crowded. Due to the rezoning the school population is smaller and according to the Guidance Counselor more manageable. (Mrs. Warhurst is awesome). I believe the school just gets bad media. The issues that I see at NEHS, is happening at the 'other' schools but just not advertised at the same level. I do believe that there is room for improvement with the administration, (but that goes with all of us). As for the students that are having problems with courses the school does offer tutoring. It is imperative that parents stay involved with the schools in order that there is that support for the staff and students.

I'm a student at Northeast High School, and frankly, I'm embarrassed to say I'm a student here. This school lacks control over the students. Safety is a concern of mine at this school. The teachers do not spend enough time on lesson plans. They cram all they can into one class period and there is never time to review over what we just learned or have time for questions. It's not uncommon for a student to have five test to study for in one night, and take all five of those test the very next day. On top of that, teachers pile on homework on test nights, usually the homework pertains to a lesson we haven't covered yet. Literally, I haven't learned anything in my English class. Our teacher will hand out an assignment for us to complete, and she didn't even teach the lesson. It's for us toteach ourselves.
I have been disappointed in NEHS since my daughters enrollment. The school has few caring teacher and the ones who do care are getting drained from non support of adminstrators as well as their peers. I agree the dress code seems much more important than the quality of education, what a joke. I fear for my daughters safety because of the lack of control over the entire student body. No one cares if the children receives an education or not. I pity the students who think education is a joke. The student dont care because the some of teachers dont care. They will soon realize the attendance diploma basically holds no value, what so ever and is a crutch to pass failing students. I concur with the others that the students are basically teaching themselves with little or no assistance from many of their teachers. These children are our future.

I'm a student here, and this has to be the most dysfunctional school on earth. The teachers don't even teach. They expect way to much. The teachers don't put the effort in teaching that I put forth doing my work. We get these assignments before we get the lesson 'if' we get the lesson. We take our own notes. Teachers have no idea if we understand or not. I have to teach myself at home what to do. The school day never ends for me at the end of school; it ends at something like 12:00 AM each night. If they attempt to give notes, they don't go over it, they just let us figure out for ourselves. They have no control over students. They can talk as loud and as much as they want. Students basically run the school. The cutting in the lunch lines. Awful school.
