I am a teacher at this school and am very proud of the progress it has made in the past four years. We set high expectations and work very hard at student achievement. I am proud to be apart of the Cougar family and encourage others to see the real CMES. Students have tremendous personality and are eager to learn as much as possible in the six-hour school day. Clopper Mill is in an economically disadvantaged area. The teachers do their best with what they have but many kids are unprepared for school and many parents have limited education and/or language skills themselves. The facilities are old but well kept and teachers do a good job of making it cheery.

My child would qualify as an honor roll student and is a high ranking student. This school gives attention to children who score on 'listening skills'. Academically clever kids did not share the center stage during the award ceremonies held quaterly. Teachers manage better with quieter kids, but there shouldnt be an overrating of underperforming students. Success is determined on intellect and academic focus.

Children are receiving a lower education then other elementary school children in the area. Students at this school are not prepared for higher education, not ready to move smoothly into middle school, lack discipline, lack respect for adults and other students. What the students are learning has been greatly reduced over the years and are far behind other elementary schools. Test scores have been very low for many years but no improvements are ever made. Current leadership in this school is awful. School has a very 'unfriednly' atmosphere.
