One of the most excellent schools in Portland. it is definitely a diamond in the rough compared to other elementary schools. Though sometimes crowded, learning is interaction-based and the teachers are friendly. The school has a great no-bullying policy and a caring, personable faculty. If you're wondering which school is best for your child, look no further. My kids turned out excellent and i give most (not all) of that credit to this wonderful school.
I have two children at Capitol Hill. I have been extremely impressed with the quality of teaching, the school personnel and the degree of parental support of the programs. A friend who has children at another school with a lofty reputation has been steadfast in her opinion that, in spite of their larger war chest, Capitol Hill's array of during and after-school programming is vastly superior. There is a supportive, calm and professional atmosphere that is hard to duplicate. I feel fortunate to have my kids at this school.
Wonderful caring environment. Large focus on art. Amazing parental involvement. My daughter was in catholic preschool, I am very happy with our decision to try public.
