We recently relocated form out of state and 2 of our children are attending this school. I believe that the staff do genuinely care about the children, but a variety of circumstances (social and economic) negatively impact the overall effectiveness of the school. It is just not the environment I was looking for. Now that we have felt out the area a little more, we will be changing schools again next year.
I have 2 children in currently in this school. We moved to the area because of the school. My children really like this school. I will say that over the past year I have seen a change in the quality of the school, not necessarily for the better. The teachers are very active and concerned about the students. I have been able to work very closely with both of my children's teachers. I would defiantly say that they are willing to go the extra mile to help your child if you as a parent are willing to. I would like to see some of the parents show more concern over their children's education so that Longdale can remain a quality school. Overall I would rate Longdale a a good school.
My daughter loved it there in K and now loves 1st grade. The school is very diverse in culture and the principal is very involved and really easy to talk with. The only issue is fundraising and that I think is universal nowdays. We changed our mind about moving because we love the school, curriculum and teachers so much.
The teachers and principal are very nice and helpful. However, there are some underlying social tensions at this school that need to be addressed. There is a population of children, who through no fault of their own, know to much about life due to their circumstances. I was disappointed at some of the things my daughter was exposed to over the last year. We will be homeschooling from now on.
