This school is like a boot camp. This is my childs 1st yr at this school as we just moved to this area and it is hell compared to the other school. Everyday I get reports from my child about how all of the staff yells at the kids. There is a bad problem with bullying and cussing as well. Next year my child will go somewhere else.
I strongly agree with the last parent. My child started Burnett in 2nd grade and she is now in 4th. This school has issues. I am a very involved parent and it is frustrating to see lack of interest from the teachers concerning academics, behavior, etc. It seems more like boot-camp to me they way they talk to the kids. Her father and I decided she would attend a creative arts school where he lives to finish out elementary. When she returns for middle school, I hope to have moved to a better school district.

We have had several issues with Burnett Elementary. We have addressed them with the teachers, vice principal, principal, and the board of education. We strongly believe that the focus at this school is not on academics. I have been a witness to several behavior issues in my son's classroom and on the scool bus. We have repeatedly asked for assistance for my son in core areas like reading and math, only to be told that he doesn't qualify. Our issues and complaints are never dealt with to our satisfaction. As involved parents we have not seen the high caliber of students referred to by the other commentator. We strongly urge all parents to visit the classrooms and become more involved. They would be very suprised.

I am a teacher at Burnett Elementary School and I love it! I believe that we have a high caliber of students who come to school ready to succeed. We have a dedicated faculty who works very hard. Our parental involvement is top-notch. We also have administrators who do everything possible to educate the whole child, socially, emotionally, and academically.
