This school has fought for at least the past 3 years to remain open, as the school board has organized an effort to close this 35-year old school before replacing it with a new one. Regardless of this distraction, the staff has kept their focus on education and along with the parents have fought to keep the Gainesboro Eagles flying high. As a Gainesboro parent I have been very pleased with the quality of education and the small school setting. Students receive one-on-one assistance as needed and parents, grandparents, and sitters are known on a first-name basis. Gainesboro was fully accredited long before the state required it, being one of the first in Frederick County and today they remain so. This cannot be matched, repeated, or reconstructed by busing to combine 3 schools into 2. Build us a new Gainesboro and thank God for the years that the old one served!
